SEC(Sustainable Enterprise Evaluation Commission)

A New Standard for Responsible Management Evaluation in the Age of AI

    Greetings,

Thank you sincerely for visiting the Sustainable Enterprise Evaluation Commission (SEC).

We believe that the evaluation of corporations, public institutions, and other organizations should not be limited merely to measuring current performance or comparing organizations with one another.

It is important to objectively and systematically evaluate how an organization's decisions and activities affect society and the environment, stakeholders and communities, and present and future generations, as well as how the organization fulfills responsibilities corresponding to those impacts.

As social, environmental, industrial, and technological conditions change rapidly through advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, climate and environmental change, and the restructuring of global supply chains, objective and reliable evaluation of Responsible Management is becoming increasingly important.

The Value of Responsible Management Evaluation

SEC does not regard evaluation merely as a means of ranking organizations.

We believe that evaluation should objectively assess the Responsible Management, Sustainability, and Future Competitiveness of corporations, public institutions, and other organizations and provide the resulting outcomes as reliable evaluation information for society and stakeholders.

Building upon the research outcomes of the WF Sustainable Responsibility Index (WFSRI) established by the WORLD FEDERATION OF POWER LEADERS (WFPL), SEC has established and operates the SEC Evaluation Methodology and SEC Evaluation Framework for the objective and systematic evaluation of Responsible Management and continues to advance them.

SEC gives due consideration to key Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors while seeking to evaluate Responsible Management from a more comprehensive and future-oriented perspective.

In particular, SEC considers it important to evaluate Responsible Management not merely in terms of responsibility for current performance, but also in terms of the impacts of organizational decisions and activities on society and the environment, stakeholders and communities, and present and future generations, together with the fulfillment of responsibilities corresponding to those impacts.

Responsible Management is an important foundation not only for the Sustainable Development of organizations but also for strengthening social trust and Public Value. When responsible decisions and practices accumulate, organizations, stakeholders, communities, and society can work together toward a sustainable future.

Our Commitment to Independence and Fairness

The credibility of an evaluation institution begins with the Independence and Fairness of its evaluations.

SEC applies Independence, Fairness, Objectivity, Professionalism, Transparency, and Reliability as its Fundamental Principles of evaluation.

SEC will safeguard the Independence and Fairness of its evaluations by preventing political or economic interests or improper external influence from interfering with the evaluation process or individual evaluation results.

SEC will also apply relevant standards and procedures to ensure that economic or business relationships with evaluation subjects do not improperly influence individual evaluation results, Ratings, or Certification decisions, and will rigorously manage conflicts of interest that may arise between evaluation activities and other business activities.

SEC will neither request nor accept monetary or other economic benefits in exchange for favorable changes to evaluation results, Ratings, or Certification decisions. The existence of an economic or business relationship or financial contribution will not, in itself, serve as a basis for favorable or unfavorable treatment in evaluation results.

SEC will also continue to advance systems and procedures supporting the Objectivity, Fairness, and Reliability of its evaluations, including Factual Review, Appeal, Evaluation Ethics, and conflict-of-interest management.

    Our Commitment to the Future

SEC will not conduct evaluations merely for the sake of evaluation.

Nor will SEC issue Ratings merely for the sake of classification.

SEC seeks to go beyond simply comparing evaluation subjects by objectively and systematically evaluating the Responsible Management of corporations, public institutions, and other organizations and providing the resulting outcomes as reliable evaluation information for society and stakeholders.

SEC will continue to study changes in social, environmental, industrial, and technological conditions, as well as emerging risks and opportunities, while continuously strengthening the Professionalism and Reliability of the SEC Evaluation Methodology and SEC Evaluation Framework so that Responsible Management can be evaluated objectively and systematically in an evolving future society.

SEC will also support responsible decision-making and Sustainable Development across corporations, public institutions, and other organizations, contribute to strengthening social trust and Public Value, and work to advance a culture of Responsible Management that considers both present and future generations.

We will do our utmost to ensure that the evaluation information provided by SEC serves as reliable reference information for corporations, public institutions, other organizations, and diverse stakeholders in understanding Responsible Management and preparing for a sustainable future.

Thank you for your continued interest and support.
